Timing is Everything

So you made the call and finally got your appointment to have your color touched-up...YES!  You've set aside a precious and valuable hour and a half to two hours between dropping the kids off, going to the doctor, going to the post office, picking up groceries, and picking the kids back up.  Some ME time.  How can you squeeze in a little something extra?  We'll tell you how.

It will take your hairstylist about 30-45 minutes to mix and apply your color.  Then you will sit with that color on, while it processes, for about 40 minutes.  Yes, you could use that time to just zone out or read up on celebrity gossip.  Know what else you could do?  Why not schedule a much needed manicure, at the same time as you are sitting there getting your color applied?  Why not schedule a glorious, decadent pedicure (when's the last time you had time for that luxury?) while you are sitting there with your color on and it is processing?  While we're at it, why not go ahead and get your brows cleaned up, after you get your color shampooed out and you are waiting for your blow-out or cut?  Turn your quick salon get-away into a true multi-tasking art form!  Head to toes!

Let yourself feel a sense of accomplishment when you walk out that door, swinging that fabulous blow-out, knowing that you just multi-tasked like a pro.

Balayage

Posted:
There is a beautiful trend in hair color of natural-looking, sun-kissed, light streaks through the hair.  It's reminiscent of childhood, spending summers outside with friends, a very youthful, natural look.

Many clients call our salon to inquire about balayage.  Here's what you need to know:

Balayage is a Technique.  It is NOT a style or a "look".  It is a method of highlighting using free-form wisping, or painting, of the hair strands.  Traditional highlighting using foils produces a very precision look of lightened/darkened streaks, or pieces.  Balayage produces a more natural lightened look, and will not give you a "bright", or dramatic blonde all over look.  The Balayage technique can also be used to paint darker pieces through the hair shaft, if you feel your color has become too solid/non-dimensional toward the ends.

There is also a big difference between ombre hair and balayage hair.  Ombre is a dramatic transition from light to dark, and should ONLY be done by a professional!  Ombre is definitely for the bolder, braver client!  Balyage technique is for the client looking for something subtle, NOT dramatic dark to light transition.

Keratin Treatments

Salon Sima is dedicated to using the highest quality, most effective, products and ingredients.  Our hair smoothing, texture improving system, the Prevana Smoothing System or Perfection Smooth Out, uses natural amino acids to change and improve the texture of your hair.  It is used to reduce volume and frizz.  It can be used on all hair types; coarse, fine, kinky, curly, bleached, color treated, and chemically treated.  It can even be used the SAME DAY as a coloring service, because of the integrity of the ingredients.

Who is this treatment for?  If you struggle with the natural texture of your hair, frizz, curls, uneven texture pattern, cowlicks, or excessive drying/styling time, this treatment could be for you.  Another benefit of this treatment is not "down" time.  You can use clips, hair ties, and shampoo, the same day of your service.

Oil Remedies

Posted:
Recently, people have been returning to homeopathic remedies to treat anything from inflammation or upset stomach, to joint pain, and even natural beauty resources.  After all, for centuries people have used ingredients found in nature for all of these things.  We would love to preserve some of these "old-world" beauty secrets, and share them with you.

Salon Sima Hair & Scalp Oil:  Properties and Uses
Castor oil, jojoba oil, cocont oil, and lavendar oil.  This is the perfect combination of properties that, used topically, 2-3 time per week, will promote hair growth, condition and heal dryness, and help with eczema and psoriasis.  Helps retain moisture on your hair, skin, and scalp.  A few drops applied to the fingertips and massaged into the scalp as a treatment, or simply applied to dry ends, will help seal and condition the hair.

Salon Sima Brow & Lash Oil
Castor oil, Vitamin E oil.  Help grow your brows and lashes by applying 1 to 2 drops to the fingertips, and massaging into brows and gently applying to the eyelashes.

Salon Sima Nail Oil
Camelia Flower & Seed Oil.  Used by the Japanese as the "beauty oil", and with added Vitamin E oil.  It softens dry cuticles, promoting healthy nail beds.  Massage gently into the cuticles, 1-2 drops.

These oils are custom-blended, with love!  Call or come in to the salon today to pruchase your oil remedy.  http://salonsimafl.com/our-salon/

Hair Extensions

Have you ever wished for fuller, longer, more luxurios hair?  Make your wish a reality in just a few hours with one of our Extension Specialists.  We are fully licensed in a variety of brands.  All types can be customized to your desired length, color, and fullness.  Most types of extensions can be reused for long periods of time, and are worth the initial investment.  A consultation appointment with a Specialist will give you an idea of what type, cost, and maintenance will be right for you.

What about that maintenance?  What should you expect?  Two weeks after the initial application we will set up a follow up appointment to ensure that your application results are performing as expected.  Always shampoo your hair with your head back, not tilted forward.  Do not dry with scrubbing action.  Wrap a towel to absorb excess moisture.  We recommend that the attachments sites be dried with warm air to prevent the bonds from remaining wet for an extended period of time.  Our Extension Specialists will make product recommendations to protect and enhance your new extensions.

Types of Extensions:
Single Strand with Glue
Single Strand Beaded Extensions
Tape Extensions
